Tracy has been dancing since the age of three. She began competing and performing during high school, both with studio dancers and as a captain of the Benilde St. Margaret’s Dance Team. Her studies include training with members of Keane Sense of Rhythm and Flying Foot Forum, as well as local and national conventions. Tracy has been teaching dance for over 30 years. Many of her tiny preschool dancers have grown up to be members of top-ranking high school teams, college dance teams, and some to even be dance teachers! The dream of opening her own studio was realized in August of 2004. Tracy takes great pride in being a positive role model for the children she teaches and hopes to bring a love of dance to every child she encounters. Building a community of support, kindness and overall inclusiveness is Tracy's goal at The Dance Warehouse. Every dancer matters here, from our baby ballerinas to our most competitive, driven high school dancers.
Mattie has been dancing since the age of 3 and is passionate about the performing arts and dedicated to nurturing young talent. A former student of TDW, she has also studied with numerous professionals including Ellen Keane and Kathy Wind of Keane Sense of Rhythm, TU Dance Company, Erin Thompson, The Flying Foot Forum, Mathew Janczewski and Shannon Fahey. Mattie has a tenure spanning more than 15 years of teaching dance, coupled with over a decade of studio directing experience. She brings a vast expertise in a diverse range of dance styles including her specialties; jazz, tap, and musical theater.
Her mission is to continue shaping the next generation of dancers, instilling in them the love for movement, self-expression, and the pursuit of excellence.
Trey brings his own signature style to The Dance Warehouse. Trey has worked with Jesse McCartney, Jamie Lynn Sigler and Radio Disney artist LMNT. Trey’s choreography has been featured on HBO Family, ABC’s The View, NBC, ESPN, and the Oxygen Network. He has performed and choreographed numerous routines for the NBA, NCAA, professional dance companies, industrials, and various television projects. His passion and talent are truly inspiring and every class offers a challenge for his students.
Kayla has been popping and locking since she could walk. She started studio training at age 10 at Studio One Dance and completed her training at Northern Force Dance Company. Kayla continued her dance education at Gustavus Adolphus College, where she graduated with a B.A in Dance Honors and was awarded Distinguished Achievement in Dance Award in 2019. She had the honor to spend a semester training at Accademia Dell' Arte in Arezzo, Italy. Since graduating, she has been teaching dance and nurturing her passion for arts administration for studios across Minnesota. Outside of the studio you will find her baking, hiking, watching Star Wars and having game nights with friends and family.
Teri is a welcome addition to The Dance Warehouse staff! Her amazing sense of humor and love of kids is unstoppable in the classroom. She grew up dancing all styles, tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, musical theater and hip hop. She began teaching 8 years ago and has led many dancers to win numerous awards both locally and nationally! Teri’s love of dance led her to create a performance dance company “Imagine” in the fall of 2005. She has studied at local conventions, and continues to learn through various Master class offerings throughout the Twin Cities. Her passion for dance and teaching is contagious, we’re excited to have her as part of our studio.
Kelly is a true dance enthusiast with over 40 years of experience. She began dancing at the age of 3 and teaching & choreographing at the age of 14. Kelly went on to win National Championships in dance with the Eden Prairie Pom Squad & the University of Minnesota Dance Team before spending 3 years as a Vikings Cheerleader. She also studied collegiate level ballet, jazz, and contemporary at Barbara Barker School of Dance and has does choreography & judging at the regional & national levels. She is not only known for her relevant choreography, but for her ability to pull an emotive performance out of dancers. Kelly is the owner of IGNITE Dance Connections, a custom costume & dancewear company. She has a passion for sharing & cultivating the art and connection of dance with students & audiences. Kelly loves to ignite the potential in her students!
Stephanie’s career now spans more than 3 decades. A member of The Ballet of the Dolls for 25 years, Stephanie originated numerous roles. Favorites of hers include Rat Queen in "Nutcracker...Not so Suite”; “Cinderella” title role; Vicky in “The Red Shoes; Coquette in "King of Hearts"; and Grey In her solo show "Shades of Lady Grey." All choreographed by the infamous Myron Johnson. Stephanie's company work includes TU Dance (founding member,) James Sewell Ballet, The Children's Theatre Co., The Minnesota Opera, The Minnesota Orchestra, NorthStar Opera(Skylark,) and The City Children's Nutcracker. In addition, she has danced in a variety of pieces choreographed by our treasure trove of Minneapolis freelance artists.
In 2005, Stephanie was awarded the McKnight Fellowship for Dancers and received "Best Dancer in Minneapolis." from the City Pages Edition of "The Best Of..." In 2008, she was presented with the Sage Award for "Outstanding Performer." Stephanie is joyfully passing on her passion for ballet and the art of performance to her lovely students. She is grateful every day for each and every one of them! Stephanie is also a certified Pilates instructor and can be found on staff at Paragon Pilates and Physical Therapy. She believes integrating core and balance work to be an invaluable piece in keeping our dancer's pain and injury free.
Tara began dancing when she was 3 years old and has been in love with the art of dance her whole life. Over the years, she immersed herself in dance and is compelled to share this fascination with others. Tara has over 25 years of experience as a dance instructor and choreographer. Her dance education includes ballet, pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz and hip hop. Tara loves sharing her passion of dance and enjoys watching her students grow and advance to the next level. She takes pride in bringing out the best in each dancer she has the opportunity to work with. Her students and choreography have won many top honors, and many of her students have gone on to dance professionally. After being involved in the competitive dance world for almost 3 decades as a dancer and teacher, she feels she has great knowledge and experience to pass along to dancers. Whatever the goal of the dancer may be, to the tiniest most novice dancer to the most advanced teenage aspiring professional dancer, Tara trains everyone the same, with a keen eye and a loving heart. You can also find her behind the judges table at many of the top dance competitions in the country, and is currently on the roster of dance competition judges with Impact Dance Adjudicators.
Casey is an artistic soul who brings a strong level of passion and focus to all of her classes. Her creative vision has delivered innovative, award-winning choreography for our performing lines at all age levels. She is a skilled instructor with over 25 years of teaching experience and a unique ability to assess a dancer’s talent and push them to the next level! Her dance journey began at the age of 3 and after 15 years of studio training, Casey became an instructor with the Universal Dance Association. She then went on to become co-captain of the nationally-ranked University of Minnesota Dance Team and a student at the Barbara Barker School of Dance before spending 3 years as a Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader. Her passion for choreography has led her to work with many impressive teams including choreographing several routines that led the University of Minnesota to National Championships and Team USA to a gold medal at the World Dance Championships. Her teaching style empowers students to be true performers and tell a story to the audience. She can teach any style of dance but has a special place in her heart for lyrical! She lives with her husband and her 2 wonderful children in Chaska and thanks God for the gift of teaching dance.
Kirby has been teaching dance for over 15 years, specializing in the area of Hip Hop. Her classes consist of a variety of activities to help build each dancers strength, basic foundations of hip hop, precision, character, stage presence and overall confidence and self-esteem. She is passionate about her classes being an experience that each student can take with them outside of the studio.
Since learning to walk, dancing has not only changed Brianna’s life by making her stronger physically, emotionally, and professionally, she has also been given the honor to do what she loves as a career. She attended her first two years of college at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and then made the decision to transfer to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities to finish her degree of a Major in Physical Therapy and a Minor of a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance.
Thankful to be a part of many different dance teams over the years, you may have actually already seen Brianna performing as a professional NBA Dancer for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2016-2019. Brianna found it extremely rewarding to be able to interact with fans on game day, she says that the excitement throughout the arena was absolutely unforgettable. In addition to Brianna’s years of being a professional dancer, she loves teaching dance at The Dance Warehouse in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Brianna is very passionate about dance, and helping develop her students growth towards what they love doing most as well. She is a strong believer that no matter your age or gender, it is never too late to strive towards your goals and passions.
Tara has been dancing and competing since she was 4 years old. She started dancing at Metropolitan Dance Alliance, where she studied ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical. In 2003, Tara came to The Dance Warehouse as a student. She finished out her last 4 competitive dance years here. While she attended the University of Minnesota completing a BS in Kinesiology and a BA in Child Psychology, Miss Tara continued her career at the Dance Warehouse assisting and teaching. She loves children and teaching dance and can’t think of anywhere else she would rather be than at the Dance Warehouse!
With a passion for dance that began early on, Shelby has dedicated most of her life to sharing the art of movement. Shelby is a former member of the Eden Prairie Pom Squad and the University of Minnesota Dance Team. During her years as a competitive dancer, her teams won 4 UDA National Champion titles! Her journey led her to choreograph for teams across the nation, where she continued to grow her dance expertise. Prior to TDW, Shelby taught elementary school for 8 years. She has a love for working kids and watching them grow! When Shelby is not dancing, she is teaching barre and strength fitness classes around the Twin Cities. Shelby loves being part of such an incredible community and is excited to share her love for life and dance!
Kristen has been dancing since the age of five. She was a studio dancer for 9 years, and then continued her dance career as a member of the Eden Prairie Pom Squad & the University of St. Thomas dance team. During her time on those teams, she was fortunate enough to win six National Championship titles, 5 in Jazz and one in Hip-Hop from the Universal Dance Association (UDA). Kristen was a company member of Crash Dance Productions, has studied at Broadway Dance Center in New York and has choreographed for high school & collegiate dance teams across the Midwest. Kristen has been teaching & choreographing for 10 years & has a vast expertise in a variety of dance styles including jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, ballet, musical theater, hip-hop & pom. Her mission is to help young dancers believe & be the best versions of themselves both on & off the stage.
Heather is a dedicated dance instructor with a passion that started at the age of 5. With over 30 years of experience in choreography and teaching, she specializes in the styles of jazz and musical theater but is well versed in lyrical, tap, hip hop and ballet. Working with children aged 3 to 18, Heather's nurturing approach and engaging teaching style have left a lasting impact on her students. Heather's dance education has been enriched by training from renowned institutions and individuals, including JazzDance company, The Flying Foot Form, Keane Sense of Rhythm, Broadway Dance Center, Trollwood Performing Arts Camp, and the Red River Dance Company. Her dedication to her craft and learning from the best has contributed to her being a well rounded dance instructor. Not only does Heather excel in the studio, but she also extends her talents as a guest teacher and choreographer for college dance teams. Her guidance has been instrumental in shaping the careers of her students, many of whom have gone on to achieve success in college dance programs and teams as well as the professional dance arena. Heather's many years of experience, combined with her genuine passion for dance and working with children, makes her a standout instructor who continues to inspire and nurture the dancers of tomorrow.
Kelly's dance background consists of studio, dance team, and professional experience. With a total of 8 UDA National Dance Championships from her time on the Eden Prairie Pom Squad and University of St. Thomas Dance Team she knows what it takes to dance with excellence, be a strong team player, and perform at a high caliber. Kelly has choreographed state and national routines for teams around the country, such as Clemson University, University of Northern Iowa, and Fargo North High School. She has also trained at Broadway Dance Center in New York, Crash Dance Productions, and Hot House Minneapolis. Kelly loves inspiring students to work hard for their passions, find their artistic and athletic expression, and of course have fun!
Emmy has been dancing since the age of three. In combination with her studio training, she would participate and captain Minnetonka Dance Team for four years. She has worked with numerous studios and high school dance teams in the Twin Cities area resulting in special recognition of her choreography on regional and national levels. Her studies include training with Zenon Dance, Crash Dance Productions, and Hot House Minneapolis. Emmy’s work is grounded in storytelling, utilizing attention to detail and spatial visual elements. She continues to grow her signature contemporary style while also fusing it with the jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop styles she grew up with. Emmy loves encouraging her students to enjoy moving and to stay present in every count of music.
Aja Schon started her dance career at 2 years old at the Marin County Ballet Company in Marin County, CA. After moving to Minnesota and continuing to take classes locally, she decided to take the next step and danced competitively at The Dance Warehouse in Chanhassen, MN for 10 years. She made the top team at her studio at age 14, and became captain of that same team her senior year. Aja’s love for contemporary sparked when she begun working with Donald Aversa (So You Think You Can Dance, World of Dance choreographer) and won Travis Wall’s standout dancer award at NUVO in 2016. This led her to become a part of Crash Dance Productions Pre-Professional team as soon as she was old enough in 2018. Aja has trained under some of the best names in the Midwest, some including Stephanie Fellner (ballet of the dolls), Kelly Clement and Casey Hall (University of Minnesota dance team alumni, Vikings alumni, UDA staff), Trey Barber (St. Thomas and Michigan hip hop choreographer), and many more, all under supervision of the owner of her home studio, Tracy Standal. Aja has trained at Joffrey Ballet School and was offered a full scholarship for their year round program in 2018. She was also a contender for both seasons 2 and 3 of World Of Dance, alongside her little sister as a duet. Aja’s journey with dance took a shift during the 2020-2021 dance season, as she was no longer a student, but a choreographer. She has loved this transition and has been honored to be the name behind her students winning several choreography/judges choice awards. In the first few seasons of being a choreographer, Aja has already choreographed close to 100 competition dances. She has travelled to Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, and has done work in both Minnesota and Nebraska, all for her choreography. She has been recognized by dance competitions such as Bravo, Legacy, Kids Artistic Review, Triple S, Precision Arts Challenge, and many more for her innovation and creativity. She has recently accepted a position as a traveling judge with Kids Artistic Revue, and she has loved exploring the world of judging. Aja plans to continue the expansion of her network and is excited to see what is to come.
Hannah started dancing at a local studio at the age of 3 where she had many members of TDW staff as teachers, mentors and fellow dancers to look up to. She was a member of the Eden Prairie Dance Team where she danced 4 fall seasons & 2 winter seasons. Hannah teaches kindergarten at Eden Lake Elementary and it is her dream come true! When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with family, friends & dog, Rigby.
